The Elder Law and Disability Rights Center (ELDR Center) believes that low-income seniors and people with disabilities are among the fastest growing vulnerable populations falling into a gap in our justice system. We have an obligation to ensure they can live with dignity and independently make end of life plans despite their income.
Our goal is to increase access to justice by providing an alternative to those who are unable to afford private attorneys but who are also unable to get the help they need through the traditional non-profit legal services. The ELDR Center is working to close this justice gap by offering free and low cost legal services to seniors, people with disabilities and people experiencing homelessness.
The ELDR Center is part of the Orange County Legal Consortium (OCLC), which is an incubator program for new attorneys wishing to start their own solo law practice. The OCLC provides mentoring, training, and other benefits to new attorneys in exchange for their commitment to provide 200 hours of pro bono legal assistance under the supervision of the partner non-profits.
